THE JOHNS HOPKINS COLLABORATION with ATCC®

JHTT has entered into a collaboration with The American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) to provide JHU Faculty a service to distribute their biological materials to the scientific community. Be assured that all JHU biological materials will be distributed with an approved Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) and JHU will retain all ownership rights due JHU either embodied in the materials or any JHU patent rights associated thereof.

There are several factors that should be considered in the selection of the best option to include your materials in the Collection:  frequency of requests, difficulty in responding to requests, and desire to promote the materials. Evaluate the two options below to decide which one best serves your needs

1) STORAGE AND STANDARD DISTRIBUTION - Select this option if you receive more than five (5) requests per year for your biological material**. You will need to produce a little more than a year’s supply for deposit at ATCC for inclusion into the JOHNS HOPKINS SPECIAL COLLECTION. ATCC will then promote and distribute your material to the scientific community. When you receive requests, simply direct them to ATCC at www.atcc.org.  Under this option, you will be responsible for supplying the materials for ATCC to distribute.

**As popularity of a particular material improves with time, you may wish to have ATCC accession your materials and produce it for you.

2) ACCESSION - Select this option if you wish to have ATCC produce the material for you. Their Collection Scientists will propagate and begin authentication process which will require your final verification. The ATCC will then provide a standardized product to the scientific community on your behalf. ATCC will continue to promote and distribute these accessioned materials as part of the JOHNS HOPKINS SPECIAL COLLECTION.
